7. Pique Turns

  • A travelling turn on one foot with other foot raised and doing stylish movement action while travelling
  • All the turns are done on one and the same foot

8. Military Turns

  • About face turn used in marching
  • A simple half turn to the left or right
  • Pivot turn to the right or to the left
  • You can step forward with the left foot and then a pivot turn to the right
  • Alternatively, you can forward step with your right and pivot to the left
  • In our salsa class we use this in our Front Cross Step i.e., Cross, Step, Step, Cross Step Step, 1,2,3, *, 5,6,7. *

9. Spot Turns

  • A turn involving keeping one foot on the spot while turning
  • For a right turn, keep right foot on the spot and then turn right
  • For a left turn keep left foot on the spot and then turn to your left left
  • This turn involves front cross over step
  • This turn is very common in Rumba

10. Chasse Turn

  • A step-ball change turn with alternating feet
  • Turining either to the right or left; inside or outside
  • Commonly used in Cha Cha

11. Tuck Turns

  • A stationary turn with one foot tucked into the in step of the weighted foot
  • This is essentially a spin turn
  • The emphasis here is how you position the un- weighted foot
  • It needs to be tucked into the spinning foot.
